    beach-roasted beans

  • YOU'VE BEEN DRINKING STALE COFFEE.

Roasting gives raw, green beans the trademark aromas and flavors that make coffee, coffee.

Fresh-roasted coffee gives off CO2 for only about 2 weeks, then it's gone, forever.

Which means anything you buy on the shelves is already stale. Even if it's a fancy brand in a fancy vacuum locked bag in your freezer.

The best cup of coffee you'll ever brew is with beans that are 2-14 days "off roast"—it's a different beverage than the coffee you're used to—full, rich, melt-in-your-mouth decadent. Big blooms, lots of crema. The best pour over, french press, drip or espresso you've ever had.

This is why the beans from Java Stew arrive at your door 48 hours

after they're roasted to your specifications, individually handcrafted pound by pound.

You'll never drink coffee the same way again.

  • THE LITTLE THINGS

    WE LOVE COFFEE

Java Stew exists for one fundamental reason. We love roasting coffee, and we want to share it with you. Every pound of coffee we ship out is made-to-order and individually roasted to your specifications and our knowledge and experience of the beans we buy. From our house to your house.

    WE CARE ABOUT STUFF

We take great care to source only simply amazing coffee, but we also make sure to work with ethical brokers and growers who use safe, sustainable shade techniques and provide a fair wage to their workers. It is our belief that sustainability is inextricably linked to economic viability, which is why paying a fair price for high-quality coffee benefits the environment, growers, roasters, and ultimately coffee drinkers like you.

    OUR GUARANTEE

This one's easy. If any single one of our handcrafted roasts doesn't change the way you feel about coffee, if it doesn't hands down defeat the coffee you've been drinking up to this point, if you don't absolutely fall in love with the coffee we send you, it's on us. No questions asked. No hassles. Trust us. It's that good.

    HELP AND INFO

    ROASTING AND GRINDING

Please feel free to specify a roast level in the comments section of your order—most of our coffees do well within a range of light-darkness. If you don't specify, we'll stick to the recommendation provided in each coffee's description. Because grinding your beans virtually instantly releases all of their CO2, making them stale within minutes, we do not grind coffees prior to shipping.

    SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Shipping is a flat $5 on all single-bag orders—if you order more than one bag at a time, there are no additional charges for as many as you like in the same order. Shipping for subscriptions is included in subscription rate—there are no additional shipping charges, or any charges, at any time.

Deliveries of individual or multiple-bag orders ship within 1-2 business days after order is received. Subscriptions ship the same, then every two weeks thereafter. All orders typically arrive 48 hours after ship date via USPS Priority. Note that USPS does not guarantee 2-day delivery, but barring severe weather, most deliveries will arrive within 1-2 days after shipping. We do not accept returns, but please contact us if you are ever unsatisfied in any way with any order—if you're not 100% satisfied, we will make it right, guaranteed.

    SUBSCRIPTION CANCELATIONS

If you wish to cancel a subscription, please drop us a note below—we will cancel immediately, no questions asked. Keep whatever beans you've got, and come back anytime.

    PACKAGING

We use eco-friendly, recycled kraft bags, laminated to preserve freshness—these bags also have one-way valves which allow your beans to degas properly while in transit, assuring that they are at their peak freshness for brewing the day they hit your doorstep.

    PRIVACY

We collect your name, address and email address in order to send you the coffee you ordered, and associated shipment notices. We do not see, nor store any financial information of any kind—this is all handled by PayPal. We do not, nor will ever, sell, trade, rent, or give individually identifying information to any third party.
